Regulation on Shopping Malls
Becoming the locomotive of retail industry by the accelerated development, shopping malls play a vital role for the Turkish economy. Shopping malls in Turkey are ranked high among the European competitors with their growth based on the records measured via shopper track and consumption amounts. In parallel with these developments, specific legal regulations are required in order for our local laws and regulations to comply with the European Union Laws and Regulations (acquis communautaire) and to create a legal infrastructure for retail industry and shopping malls. In this context, the Law on Regulation of Retail Trade numbered 6585 published in the Official Gazette dated January 29, 2015 entered into force (“6585 Numbered Law”). The 6585 Numbered Law formed a general legal frame for the retail industry and prepared a substructure for future regulations.
