Amendment to the Communiqué on the Protection of the Value of the Turkish Currency No. 32

Communiqué (Communiqué No: 2024-32/70) Amending the Communiqué on the Decree No: 32686 on the Protection of the Value of Turkish Currency (Communiqué No: 32686) published in the Official Gazette dated 08.10.2024 and numbered 2024-32/70), which entered into force on the date of its publication.
With this amendment, an additional exemption related to medical devices has been added to Article 8 of the Communiqué on the Protection of the Value of the Turkish Currency No. 32 (Communiqué No: 2008-32/34).

What Are the Amendments Introduced Under the Communiqué?

In accordance with the Medical Device Regulation published in the duplicate Official Gazette dated 02/06/2021 and numbered 31499, and the In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices Regulation, published in the same Official Gazette, the notified bodies domiciled in Turkey, which are appointed under the aforementioned regulations, are now permitted to enter into service contracts with manufacturers and employment contracts with individuals domiciled in Turkey in foreign currency or indexed to foreign currency.

In summary, this amendment allows the notified bodies operating in the medical device sector to execute contracts in foreign currency. This will enable the medical device sector to conduct transactions in accordance with the international requirements of the industry, by providing the ability to enter into contracts in foreign currency.
