As required by Turkey's current and long term energy policy a reduction in Turkey's foreign energy dependence has been targeted via an enhancement of local resources and the country's savings. Conversion of current local resources into production investments and research of new resources have been proposed as well.

Similarly, the Government intends to increase the percentage of the renewable resources in the total energy supply. For this purpose, a technological and industrial development has been targeted by supporting water, sun, wind, geothermal and bio fuel oil investments and reaching a higher level of renewable installed capacity until 2023.
